Who We Are

Flex Legal is a freelance lawyer platform (not a law firm). We are a business development option for freelancers looking for more freelance work but need help finding it. Flex Legal promotes the freelancers who are part of our network and their services to lawyers and law firms across Canada.

Are you looking for more flexibility in your life?

Are you seeking an alternative to the “all in or all out” mentality of the legal profession? 

Flex Legal is always looking for experienced freelance lawyers, paralegals, and law clerks to join our network. All lawyers and paralegals must be licensed in a Canadian province.

In particular we welcome legal professionals who have the Flex Factors: 

  • a minimum of 5 years of practice, experience at a top firm and / or in-house legal department, 
  • an entrepreneurial spirit,
  • a commitment to excellence, and
  • an emphasis on quality client service.

Flex Legal freelancers are not just exceptional counsel, they are also entrepreneurial, self-disciplined, and self-motivated. They join Flex because they are seeking greater flexibility than what a position at a law firm or other traditional legal role can offer. 

 

Being a Freelancer

Becoming a member of the Flex Legal network is not a full time job, you are not an employee, but a member in a network of freelancers.
 
It is an ideal opportunity for lawyers who have already established their freelance practice and are looking for additional work, or lawyers who are new to freelancing and have other responsibilities or interests in life that are not compatible with the working hours of a regular law firm or general counsel role.
 
Joining Flex is also a good match for lawyers who may have stepped back from the practice of law for a few years and wish to gradually re-enter the workforce by working on a project basis.

Interview

Please fill out the form below. If you meet the Flex Factors, and Flex Legal is looking to add freelancers with your experience, you will be contacted to schedule an interview.

References & Writing Sample

After the interview you will be asked to provide a writing sample (or to complete a short writing assignment) and two references.

Welcome to Flex!

Once references have been checked and both you and the interview team agree that you would be a great addition to our network, you will sign our Membership Terms and be added to Flex Legal's roster of freelancers.
