WANT TO BECOME A FLEX LEGAL FREELANCE LAWYER or LAW CLERK?

    Picture
Experienced lawyers and clerks join our network because they are seeking greater flexibility than what a position at a law firm or other traditional legal role can offer.

Flex Legal lawyers and clerks are not just exceptional counsel, they are also entrepreneurial, self-disciplined, and self-motivated.

In particular we welcome lawyers and law clerks who have the "Flex Factors": a minimum of 5 years of practice, experience at a top firm and / or in-house legal department, an entrepreneurial spirit, a commitment to excellence, and an emphasis on quality client service.

Becoming a member of the Flex Legal is ideal for lawyers and clerks who have already established their freelance practice and are looking for additional work, or lawyers and clerks who are new to freelancing and have other responsibilities or interests in life that are not compatible with the working hours of a regular law firm or general counsel role. Joining Flex is also ideal for lawyers and clerks who may have stepped back from the practice of law for a few years and wish to gradually re-enter the workforce.

    ON-BOARDING STEPS

    1. "Get To Know Flex Legal" Interview: Please
fill out the form below. If you meet the Flex Factors, and Flex Legal is looking to add freelancers with your expertise, you will be contacted to schedule an informational interview. These interviews are normally held on the first and third Friday of each month. Prior to the interview you will be asked for an up-to-date CV.

    2. "Get To Know You" Interview: After the first interview you will be asked to provide a writing sample and one or two references, and a second interview will be scheduled with a different member of our team. During this second interview we will explore your legal experience and your thoughts on your "Ideal Freelance Practice". This will help our team figure out the best freelance projects for you.

    3. Welcome to the World of Freelancing: Once references have been checked and both you and the interview team agree that you would be a great addition to our network, you will sign our Membership Terms and be added to Flex Legal's roster of freelancers. All freelancers have the option of having a bio on our website.

OUR COMMITMENT TO ANTI-RACISM

We are committed to anti-racism and know we are not doing enough. Right now our activism is donation-based and we are listening and learning, and amplifying BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) voices. We know we must take sustained, intentional action to combat racism. One step we are taking is assessing our annual budget and developing a plan to support BIPOC owned businesses, vendors, and contractors. Acknowledging the lack of BIPOC representation on our team, we are committed to improving this lack of diversity. We want to continually and sustainably do the work to build an anti-racist business and community where everyone feels safe and valued. If you would like to contact us about our anti-racism commitment or how we can improve our allyship, please reach out: info@flexlegalnetwork.com . For law firms looking for ways to support the BIPOC community see this article by Lulu Tinarwu for the CBA National Magazine.
