Flex Legal was founded in 2015, evolving from the busy legal freelance practice that Flex's founder Erin Cowling started in 2013. Erin discovered that many sole practitioners and law firms needed short-term, as-needed, experienced legal help which she was happy to provide. Erin started turning down work due to the volume of requests. The realization that other lawyers may enjoy freelancing resulted in the founding of the network. Starting with just 3 freelance lawyers, we have grown to over 60 lawyers. In our first year we assisted 13 law firms. We now have over 100 lawyer and law firm clients that we help on a regular basis.
