  • Drafting all court documents including pleadings, conference briefs, motion materials, etc.
  • Preparing Marriage Contracts and Separation Agreements
  • Completing all steps involved in uncontested divorces
  • Preparing Financial and NFP statements including management of disclosure collection from both parties and assembly of disclosure briefs
  • Working knowledge of the Family Law Rules and relevant Acts

Experience:

Susan has ten years of experience working as a family law clerk. She excels at independent document preparation and disclosure management, while at all times maintaining a professional and compassionate client-focused and results oriented approach.

Susan’s education and experience (outlined below), provide her with a clinical perspective that enables her to make significant positive contributions to decision-making responsibility and parenting time disputes, particularly cases involving parental alienation. Susan has a talent for reading between the lines and identifying inconsistencies in opposing parties’ court documents, exhibits, disclosure and correspondence. When drafting she loves contemplating strategy and conveying the facts in a concise and compelling manner, with a consistent ring of truth throughout.

In addition to her Diploma in Law Clerk, Susan has completed a Bachelor of Arts, Honours program, with a major in psychology, and a Diploma of Professional Counselling. For several years Susan operated a private counselling/therapy practice at 4peaceofmind.ca. Her passion for helping others and family law inspired her to self-publish an eBook entitled Peace of Mind for Custody and Divorce: A Modern Woman’s Guide for Transcending Family Law Disputes which sells on Amazon. She is currently studying coaching with the intention of becoming a divorce coach.
